Same ol' Same ol'

Hypocrisy runs thick in your veins. Yeah, you know who you are. In 2008, you said you wanted change. It is apparent not only by the recent election and almost every election prior for the past 30 years that you want anything but change. The name of your party suggests that you enjoy democracy yet allow big unions to determine which government will serve the union best. You state that a robust debate is a foundation to democracy yet maintain strongholds within our government – stomping out competition year after year. You have become what you hate – a very large and powerful, monopolizing corporation making self-interest a priority. You are the Democratic Party.

Representative DeBolt on WA Business

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oct. 28, 2009

Statement from Rep. Richard DeBolt on today’s Boeing announcement that it will locate its second 7E7 Dreamliner manufacturing plant in South Carolina

“Today’s announcement by Boeing was extremely disappointing, however it was news that came with ample warning to leaders who had the chance to affect a different outcome. The challenges that Boeing and other businesses in our state face to remain competitive are well documented. Regulatory excess, taxes, permitting and labor costs are all factors that are making it difficult for employers in our state to keep people working.

“Frankly, the track record of lawmakers to respond to these challenges has been poor. During the 2009 legislative session, when given an opportunity to fix our state’s unemployment insurance system and bring it into compliance with federal law, the Legislature nearly jeopardized a bipartisan bill by injecting the poison of politics into the negotiations. The message this sends to prospective employers is if you want to do business in Washington it will always come at a price.

“This represents yet another missed opportunity for our state. Now we need to look ahead so we don’t miss out on the next opportunity. We need ask ourselves, as lawmakers and leaders, are we prepared to do what is necessary to win the next high-stakes competition for jobs. For the sake of Washington families, I hope the answer is yes.
“Today’s announcement should serve as a wake-up call for state and local leaders. We need to do better, and we need to be vigilant about creating and maintaining the kind of healthy business climate that is necessary to provide jobs for the citizens of Washington.”

Thurston County Sheriff's Deputies endorse Beehler!

In my humble opinion... law enforcement personnel want someone who is going to back them and not the criminal, so it comes to no surprise to me that these Deputies want a conservative in office. Here is the article and congratulations to Pat Beehler on yet another outstanding endorsement:

GOP's Beehler reports endorsement by Thurston deputies

Thurston County's sheriff’s deputies have endorsed Republican county commissioner candidate Pat Beehler, the candidate's campaign said today. In a news release, it said in part:

Thurston County Deputy Sheriff's Association announced today they have overwhelmingly voted to endorse Pat Beehler for Thurston County Commissioner. "This endorsement means a lot to me, and I very much appreciate their confidence and support, " Beehler said upon hearing the news. "The Deputy Sheriff's share my vision for getting Thurston County back on track, and know that the County Commission can do better."

I haven't seen anything explaining why the deputies did not want to back incumbent Democrat Karen Valenzuela. It seems fair to assume the commission's budget cuts and legal fight with the Sheriff’s Office over spending are part of the story.

For immediate release:

Pat Beehler showed his unprecedented endorsement post card picturing an array of Democrats, Republicans and Non Partisans, to the panel as he finished his Editorial Board interview this morning.

"We are proud of all of our endorsers, and particularly appreciative that so many who've sought or held public office and key positions of responsibility were willing to make their endorsement this public," Beehler said. "The 12 pictured people are respected leaders, who join the working families of the Olympia Master Builders, the Thurston County Realtors, and the Thurston County Farm Bureau, endorsing our efforts."

"This 2009 race for the County Commission is not about Party preference, but more about performance and positions," Beehler continued. "Except for both of us being Grandparents, we couldn't be more different," Beehler concluded.

Complaint Filed against Karen Valenzuela (D)

Thurston County Republican Party

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thurston County Republican Party Chairman, Scott Roberts filed a Public Disclosure complaint against Karen Valenzuela (D) today and calls for her withdrawal from the Thurston County Commissioner’s race.

September 23, 2009, OLYMPIA, WA – Scott Roberts, Chairman of the Thurston County Republican Party filed a complaint today with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission. Roberts alleges that Karen Valenzuela (D) has falsely represented herself as the incumbent seeking re-election.

Scott Roberts said, “Karen Valenzuela (D) has falsely represented herself as an elected incumbent by advertising a fundraiser for her re-election. The announcement appeared in The Olympian this past Sunday.

“The Sunday edition of The Olympian has a mammoth circulation of 39,000. And The Olympian claims 89,000 Sunday readers. Additionally, The Olympian’s website claims 345,000 unique monthly visitors. With this huge exposure of Valenzuela’s (D) false claim, there is no way to tell how many voters now believe that Karen Valenzuela (D) was previously elected as a commissioner.

“Certain words are protected under the Washington State law and regulated by the Public Disclosure Commission. One of those words is “re-elect”. When voters believe that candidates have previously been elected to the position, it gives that candidate a distinct advantage.

“I’m calling for Karen Valenzuela’s (D) withdrawal from the election because there is no way to ensure a level playing field and a fair election. There is no way to tell how many voters have been influenced by her false claim and now believe that she was previously elected as a commissioner, and there is no reasonable way to undo the damage.
